Honestly I haven't even thought about Christmas shopping. Not until today actually. We went down to the outlets in Saint Augustine and the cool, crisp air started to remind me of Christmas and all that I need to get working on.
I have no idea what I'm getting anyone for Christmas. I really like the idea of supporting both handmade items and local businesses. I really want to get away from purchasing generic gifts from big box (although I know I won't give up those entirely-I can't live without Target!). While that is a great notion, it leaves me somewhat clueless to what I'm doing for the most part.
Elise is at a difficult age to buy for now. All she wants are expensive gifts. Long gone are the days of Barbies and Polly Pockets. She now wants things like a new iPod or a cell phone. Since her iPod is my old one and is in need of battery replacement (again), I would rather just get her a new one. So naturally I can make a really cute case to go with it. I just made her a beautiful, beaded bookmark at a jewelry party I hosted, so I'll add that to her gifts too, but aside from those things, I don't know what to do.
Justin is going to be hard to shop for too. I don't want to be lame and get him clothes, tools, or books, but I am completely out of ideas. I'd love to be able to plan a nice, romantic weekend for the two of us somewhere, but I'm not sure that's in my budget. Or maybe I could get him a few rounds of golf someplace cool (like I know where those places are) or a new Garmin wristwatch thingy. I don't know...I'm sure he'll like any of those ideas better than some polos from The Gap.
My M & P are problematic. They never need or want anything. I always want to do something nice for them, but I know they hate to see me waste money on things that they don't need or want. For the last several gift giving occasions, I've gifted them with different photo gifts of their grandbabies, which have been a big hit. I don't think I can stretch that idea any further than I have already.
As for Justin's parents, I don't have a clue either. They'll problem submit a wish list, but I feel like picking a gift off of a list is not any fun. I'd rather surprise them with something we've put a lot of thought into giving.
Any one want to share what you'll be giving (or hopefully getting) this year? I could use some help!

4 shout outs:

I'm all done ;)
Joe's getting a chain saw. It's what he needs- and with baby on the way, we're in the "need" shopping mode this year.
Me? I hope for diapers. Lame. But, I have financial anxiety over diapers.
I did support many etsy people for Christmas gifts for the rest of my family (Yourself included). That's important to me EVERY year. Especially when I find those military spouses. Love to see my $$ go to them!
You make the best stuff, I don't see why you even need to shop!
